“For years, irons were heavy, flat tools that can either create smooth, wrinkle free clothes or with one misstep could lead you to skin burn. Steam clothes irons are a wonderful invention. Rather thancounting on the heat of the actual clothes iron, these irons rely on the heat of the steam. The standard type of clothes iron is a simple heat based implement. They’ll use a heated slab of metal smooth the wrinkles out of clothing. The metal slab is normallymounted on a piece of plastic with a handle attached. The second major type of clothing iron is the steam iron just like the Tobi steamer. It is also heat based. Both types have vents from steam but a clothing steamer is a lot stronger.”
Should youpurchase atraditional flat iron or a steam based iron? The fact is that a clothing steamer has got anedge overthe usualtype of iron since they pose next to no risk for the operator and they alsodo not damage clothing the way an iron can. It is verysimple to leave a fabric iron on fabric like chiffon or thin cotton for a second too long and burn it.
Steam irons use heated water to eliminate the wrinkles from clothes and fabrics that could easily burn with traditional dry irons. They use distilled water converted into steam by a special heating unit. The hot mist comes through the holes on the soleplate and releases up the fibers of the clothes to smooth them out. As compared to thetraditional ones where you just depend on the heat, this sort of iron allow you to have more control and they press out wrinkles easily.
Clothing steamers areextremelyflexible and they don’t take as much maneuvering as the traditional flat iron. The garment hangs upright and steam is used. The clothing steamer is equally as effective on very mild clothing wrinkling or on verypronounced creases in the fabrics. It maybe alsoused to press finish the look of pleats, hems, and otherforms of creases. If you are seeking a safe and easy to make use of form of wrinkle remover, think about trying a professional steam instead than just the usual iron. Although irons do have steam the mist isn’t applied in the same gentle way and there’srisk of staining or spotting the fabric as a result.
Steam irons are always expanding on theirexisting features – becoming more lightweight and breaking off into different models for in your own home, work or travel. The more frequent ironing is done the higher the electricity consumption and the more trouble it is for managing other chores. If things left unmanaged, it’s possible to be forced to send the soiled garments to the nearest laundry shop adding another bill to pay for. A steamer handlesthe problem. Also, you’ll find now portable and light steamer models which areideal for those who travel frequently or for those living in tight areas.
If you’re able to, perform astudy on the popular brands of clothes irons and do a comparisonwith each otherdepending on the features mentioned above and additional ones that they may have. Ironing clothes a fundamental household chore that can be made effortless, and evenenjoyable, if you have the right iron. Most irons are incrediblyinexpensive, even with the best and most advanced functions, and it isessential that you make a good investment on one; the returns will make the expense more than worth it! But one thing is fo r sure, clothing steamer is encouraged to be considered.
“You might have taken steps to make your home more energy efficient, but have you thought about how your household would cope with no electricity? You need to plan ahead by making sure you have alternative forms of heat and light, such as torches fitted with new batteries, candles and matches, battery-operated heaters or portable gas fires. However, be extra careful with open flames in the home; make sure you place them on a non-flammable surface away from curtains and soft furnishings, and never leave them unattended.”
Sound advice from someone who’s been through several residential blackouts
I think it’s safe to say we’ve all experienced the power going out at some time. In my neighborhood, the lights always go out for a few minutes when there is a storm. A blackout is a power outage for an extended period of time. These are usually caused by winter storms and disasters. Here is some sound advice from someone who’s been through several residential blackouts. Find out how to prepare before, during and after a blackout.
Prepare Before a Blackout
The first way to prepare for an outage is to help prevent them. Look for hazards that could fall and damage the power lines on your property. The simple act of keeping trees pruned and in good health can not only save your home in a severe storm but also keep power in the neighborhood.
Having a family emergency plan is the most important part of being prepared. Time to get out a pencil and write down where the manual release lever for you garage door is, so you can get in and out without power. Also, now is a good time to hide a spare key outside, especially if you rely on using your garage as an entry way.
“Every dog deserves a warm and loving home. They come into our lives for in many ways: through pet adoption, as a loyal service dog, foster dog turned furry family member, or taken in after being abandoned. Regardless of how a dog becomes family, you love every whisker on their face as well as all the irritating things they do that make you want to pull your hair out. On the other hand, did you know there are a number of things you do that make your dog want to pull their fur out? That’s right, folks! Some of the things you do actually irritates your furry beasts. They just cannot express in words how crazy, unreasonable or how confusing you are being. Let’s take a look at ten things dogs don’t like humans doing, then tally up how many of them you are guilty of — innocently, of course.”
Although our canine friends love us unconditionally, there is a number of things you probably do that are driving your dog nuts. In order to keep Fido as your best friend, you need to know what these nasty and annoying habits are and try to get rid of them as quickly as possible.
1. Yelling At Him
Make sure you stop yelling at your dog and try switching to body language. We have evolved over time and became a primarily vocal species.
We simply love talking to and about other people, sometimes even behind their backs, but we need to understand that our pets respond better to body language and physical manifest of emotions, than to verbal communication.
Dogs are able to figure out the meaning of some key words we use daily (words like sit, stay, walk, treat, toy, off…), but they are not capable of completely understanding human language and all the messages it conveys. What they are true experts at, however, is being able to read our body language and decipher exactly what you’re thinking and feeling just by reading your body.
So next time you want to yell come! at your dog, try leaning forward and summoning him with your hand instead. It will work like a charm.
There are basically 2 type of pipe line in your home which are essential for your daily life. The first type is a water supply pipe. This pipes brings water to you for consumption. The water is considered clean and treated and are brought to your taps. There are usually not much concern for such pipes and the only occasional issue that can occur are leaks that can occur due to oxidization in the pipe. Our recommendation is to have your pipe painted by oil base paint to prevent such from happening.
On the other hand, there are the pipes that bring waste out of your home. The drainage pipe is something that we should actively maintain. We should use a drain cleaner at least once every 3 month in the kitchen sink pipe so as to prevent oil from building up. Such drain cleaners are easy to buy and you can obtain them at super markets such as NTUC or Cold storage
Since the sink has not clogged up yet at that time, all you have to do is pour some of the solution in and wash them down with water. Another effective remedy is to use hot water and baking soda to was down your drain pipe. The main concentration is usually on your sink pipe as that is where you would usually pour your oil down after cooking.
According to Derek a plumber from plumbersg, the main issue they always get called out from is to clear pipes that are stuck due to accumulated oil that has dried up within the pipes.
Other solutions recommended by Derek is to watch what your throw down your drains. Toilet bowl choke by sanitary pads or cloth, toilet floor trap choked by hair are other common issue that occurs.
My home choke was cleared by them and that was when i started to get curious on how we can prevent such chokes to occur again. It seemed to me that most chokes could be prevented. Only in rare instances are there home owner that can’t do much to prevent a choke from happening. This is due to the building development rather than the home owner negligence thou. This cases occur when the pipes used are of a smaller size.
Anyway if you have any question do drop me a comment.
“Most people cherish their family more than anything in the world, no matter how awful they may seem as individuals. This makes us extremely sensitive when our loved ones are criticized. Just because we can bash our family members doesn’t mean that others can. While communication is of utmost importance in any relationship, in this case you must approach it with extreme care. Telling him you simply “don’t like” his family will likely only force him to side with his blood relatives, and will make it much more difficult for him to mediate between both parties.”
I’ve been dating my boyfriend for over a year. He’s amazing and I love him. Here’s the problem: I really don’t like his family. They’re all so annoying and kind of rude. He’s close with his brother and sister, but I hate hanging out with them and always try to make excuses not to. But I feel like he might catch on. Should I be honest with him and tell him I don’t like his family?
For all of those potential in-laws who unintentionally obstruct otherwise healthy romances, there are also relatives out there who commit outright sabotage. (Sean learned this on this season of The Bachelor, when Desiree’s brother scared him off during her hometown date. Not that I was watching…) Whether out of fear, prejudice, a lack of social skills, or some combination of all of the above, a family can create an unwelcoming environment that can potentially prevent a relationship from thriving.
If you’d been dating your boyfriend for less than a year, I’d have advised you to not yet broach the topic. But now that you two are pretty invested in one another and you might continue to spend a lot more time with him (and his family) in the future, your feelings need to be addressed.
“Mice are small rodents about one inch long, with the typical mouse a brown or brownish-gray color. Mice can squeeze into a home through the smallest crack. Even a hole the size of a dime can admit one or two mice, and that’s all you need for an infestation One pair of mice produce up to six litters of babies per year, with an average of five mice per litter. Within a short amount of time, the typical home or apartment can be overrun with these pests. Often the first thing a homeowner notices that points towards a mouse infestation are holes gnawed or chewed into boxes or bags. If you pull out your loaf of bread, for example, you may notice a hole chewed right through the bag and the edges nibbled off the bread.”
Since the weather turned chilly, you can practically see mice families unloading their little U-hauls and setting up housekeeping in the nooks, crannies and hollows of our walls. Mr. Mod was on a rampage last night disinfecting every square inch of the kitchen. His mice catching technique is the old-fashioned one, not humane at all-peanut butter in a mouse trap. (I really think he takes pleasure in flinging their limp bodies out into the woods–ick!) For the homeowner in need of kinder, gentler mice-ridding options, there are alternatives to the neck squishing snap. As long as a mouse can get his head through an opening, he can wriggle the rest of his body right on through. Not only do you have to catch them, you also need to deter and block them from entering. They’re and they can carry diseases you want NO part of.
